With my wife Lesley and four friends I joined a two week tour of China; a tour which covered the ancient and modern of this fast developing country. Officially known as the Peoples Republic of China it is the world’s most populous state with a population of 1.381 billion. It’s history goes back many centuries, Emperor Qui, in the second century BC, was the first emperor of a united China who ruthlessly used conscripted labour to build many civil engineering projects including the Great Wall.
